Blues legend, Papa George, recently released an entirely new music project and I could not be more pleased with the finished product: ‘These Wheels.’ This brand-new collection of songs cover every emotion that the blues can convey. Track by track and note for note, Papa George brings the heat that he is known for and with an electricity that is purely his.
The album roars to life with the title track: ‘These Wheels.’ It is heavy blues accompanied by Papa George’s gravelly, road-worn vocals. The combination is intoxicating and a great start to the record. He keeps this steady build growing for the entire album.
The smouldering sizzle of ‘Heartache & Pain’ make it one of my personal favourites. It is one of Papa George’s best vocals on the record and one of my personal favourites from him in general. Musically, this is my favourite track.
With so many things in life that are ever-changing, there is one thing I have always been able to rely on: Papa George will always turn out quality work and this record is yet one more powerful example of that. He is a master of his art, and he has the track record and discography to prove it. Overall, an incredible effort.
