James Makenzie's new single is an entrancing track with a country twist on pop. It is beautifully produced, with warm backing vocals adding texture throughout, alongside rich guitar and percussion.
This song is really well-crafted and arranged, with something for everyone. It has enough depth to intrigue the deep-thinkers amongst us who might want to listen with closed eyes and headphones, yet also easy-listening enough to have playing in the background, filling the air with atmosphere.
It's no wonder Makenzie has enjoyed a string of successes to date. He's toured the UK and Germany with Newton Faulkner, Skerryvore, Runrig and had the opportunity to work with two of his favourite songwriters on his crowd-funded debut album The Honeymoon (out 4 June 2021). Some of these songs were co-written/produced in America with Matt Novesky of Blue October and in Australia with Glenn Sarangapany from Birds of Tokyo.
