Italian-born post-punk, synth-pop and new-wave artist 2heart2crash has unleashed his debut album, 22.

The eight-track release balances dark moods with dancefloor-ready energy, carried by strikingly honest songwriting. 2heart2crash, real name Alessio Grancini, unpacks themes of identity, communication, technology and emotional vulnerability. The addition of a strong visual component reinforces the project’s cohesive and immersive artistic vision.

Sonically, the synth-driven record pairs introspective themes with feel-good production. Opening track Acid introduces the album with a funky edge, exploring the unease of feeling disconnected from familiar spaces and relationships. Bad Guy follows with an infectious hook that echoes long after the song ends. On Help, resilience becomes almost self-destructive, as the narrator refuses to seek support despite evident inner turmoil. A standout track is N1LikesU, confidently assertive and unflinchingly blunt, capturing the determination to remain authentic while rejecting manipulation within a toxic relationship. The closing track, Psycho, leaves listeners on a high note, its effervescent melodies and repeated lines making it instant earworm material. Although the album lasts just over 20 minutes, it feels layered and complete.

Raised in Italy, 2heart2crash’s passion for music began early through attending numerous gigs in his hometown. Watching international bands command mosh pits and channel explosive energy helped shape the intensity and ambition behind his own creative pursuits.

He began his career as the frontman of Edge in Imola, Emilia-Romagna. The band’s debut single, Edge, earned more than 6.5K views on BlankTV, one of the largest DIY platforms dedicated to punk, hardcore, metal, indie and underground music. Grancini later expanded into producing and releasing several music and video art projects, including Graves by Parkshores featuring SuckerPunk. These projects drew attention from platforms such as Earmilk, 15MinutesNews, FMS and Alfitude.

Now based in San Francisco, Grancini wrote and produced 22 entirely in his bedroom during a yearlong stay at a hacker house near North Beach. The visual side of the album was co-produced with Cole Daly, who worked closely on the videos, alongside Zeo Zhang, who contributed to visual direction and artistic development. Final production was completed with Johnny Hits. Being immersed in startup culture and surrounded by tech founders left a tangible influence on both the album’s themes and its sonic identity.

“It’s made up of the conversations I’ve had with myself along the way,” says 2heart2crash. “Admitting my mistakes and the failures of communication that followed me helped me release some of the ghosts that kept reminding me how bad things once were.”

At its core, the project wrestles with the tension between digital life and real-world connection. “No one knows you better than your devices. Texting, in particular, fascinates and disturbs me, not just its utility, but the anxieties, rhythms, and expectations it carries. Many people misunderstand the tech scene. I saw firsthand the effort, the risk, and the emotional toll that comes with building something from nothing. Artists and entrepreneurs are not so different. Both must believe in a vision long before anyone else does.”

The album marks a pivotal chapter for 2heart2crash. By weaving underground influences with commentary on contemporary culture, 22 captures the emotional nuance of navigating an increasingly connected world.

“This project feels urgent, honest, and sonically distinctive,” says music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR. “It captures the anxiety, beauty, and contradictions of a generation shaped by both underground music and digital life. It’s not just a record, it’s a statement about where alternative music and visual culture are heading next.”
