Conchis Explores Life’s Choices in Experimental Electro-Pop Single "Cray Cray" from Upcoming Debut Album 'Chapters'

Finnish artist Conchis is set to captivate listeners with her new single, "Cray Cray," a cinematic and experimental electro-pop track that delves into the complexity of life’s choices and the rawness of human emotion. Known for her unique blend of electronic, pop, and experimental music with touches of cinematic soundscapes, Conchis brings a deeply personal and introspective lens to her latest work, confronting challenges that resonate with many but are uniquely her own.

"Cray Cray" is a bold exploration of the choices we make and their impact on our personal journeys. The song tackles themes such as the self-imposed creative boundaries that artists often struggle with, the societal pressures surrounding whether to have children, and the challenges of navigating life with a chronic illness. Conchis, who grapples with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), has channeled her experiences into her music, imbuing "Cray Cray" with a sense of urgency and authenticity that reflects her own life’s dilemmas and emotional depth.

The track is part of Conchis' forthcoming debut album, Chapters, which promises to delve into the depths of human psychology with a thematic focus on loss, yearning, consumption, and desperation. Despite the limitations imposed by her illness, Conchis adopted an innovative approach to the album’s production, allowing herself only five vocal takes per song. This self-imposed rule, rather than limiting her creativity, has resulted in a raw and vulnerable sound that mirrors her journey through illness and her commitment to artistic expression.

Growing up in the Finnish archipelago, Conchis developed a deep connection to nature and music from an early age. Surrounded by the remote beauty of the countryside, she nurtured her creativity, beginning to sing before she could talk and later mastering the violin, joining choirs, and writing her own songs. Her artistic identity is heavily influenced by her upbringing, as well as by literary works like John Fowles’ *The Magus*, from which she draws both her stage name and thematic inspiration. The album intertwines these influences, sampling sounds reminiscent of the natural elements and exploring the dichotomies of light and dark, beauty and roughness.

Chapters, is set to release on October 25, 2024, via Kieku Records. With "Cray Cray" as an intriguing glimpse into the album’s narrative and sound, fans can expect more singles in the lead-up to what promises to be a compelling and introspective debut.
