Gab Gordon Embraces Slowness In New Single 'Slowburn'

In a cultural moment obsessed with speed, Gab Gordon is embracing slowness. Her music unfolds patiently, allowing emotion to gather gradually through atmosphere, texture, and melodic detail rather than immediate payoff. It’s an approach that gives her songs a rare sense of emotional depth, particularly on her latest single “Slowburn,” a standout release from her EP The Pretty Bazaar.

Gordon’s artistic foundation began just outside Philadelphia, where music was woven naturally into everyday life. Watching her father perform introduced her early to live musicianship, while classical piano training shaped the melodic instincts that remain central to her songwriting. Over time, she expanded into guitar, bass, and drums, becoming increasingly involved in every aspect of the creative process.

That curiosity only deepened in college while studying biomechanical engineering. Rather than pulling her away from music, Gordon’s technical education sharpened her fascination with sound itself; how resonance, texture, and tiny sonic variations affect emotional perception. Music production soon became an extension of that curiosity, eventually leading her into custom pedal design and hands-on experimentation with tone and atmosphere.

Interestingly, much of Gordon’s songwriting process was shaped outside the studio altogether. As a Division I rower, she spent countless quiet mornings training before sunrise, where repetitive movement and solitude became fertile ground for melodic ideas. Those instinctive musical fragments would often arrive long before lyrics, which later emerged through introspection and emotional reflection. The result is music that feels emotionally layered without becoming overworked.

“Slowburn” perfectly captures Gordon’s strengths as both songwriter and producer. Built around airy harmonies, nostalgic percussion, and slowly evolving synth arrangements, the song explores romantic tension with remarkable subtlety. Rather than dramatizing emotion, Gordon allows longing to linger unresolved, creating a dreamlike atmosphere reminiscent of Weyes Blood and Lana Del Rey while maintaining a distinctly modern indie pop sensibility.

What ultimately separates Gordon from many emerging artists is the cohesiveness of her vision. Her music, visuals, and production aesthetic all exist within the same emotional universe; one inspired by retro glamour, vintage editorials, and late-night urban isolation.

With “Slowburn” and The Pretty Bazaar, Gab Gordon continues establishing herself as an artist deeply invested in creating not just songs, but immersive emotional experiences that linger long after the music ends.
