Welcome to Curious For Music! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your latest release?

I wrote Worst Enemy at the end of the year when I was doing my new years plans. I realized that there were so many things that I wanted to do that I just wasn’t. It dawned on me that the only person standing in the way of achieving everything I want to achieve is me and I write the song almost like a declaration that things are gonna change. That’s how we get the chorus “I don’t wanna be my own worst enemy”.

What was the creative process like for this project?

Every project that I do has a very different process. I like to collaborate so I always tailor my process to what I think would be best for whoever I’m working with. With Worst Enemy, I had actually had this beat sent to me by my friend and producer, Veniss, a year prior, but I hadn’t come up with any lyrics that fit the vibe. After doing my New Year’s reflection, it just became super clear that this was the perfect beat to write to.

How does this new release differ from your previous work?

I think this one just felt very meaningful for me because I was drawing a line in the sand with how I go go about my life. It’s truly an anthem for me that I use to continually remind myself to keep going.

Were there any particular challenges you faced while making this music?

Honestly, no, this was one of the smoothest processes I’ve had when writing a song.

Did you collaborate with any other artists or producers on this project?

Yes, I collaborated with my longtime producer, Veniss, on this one. He really understands my sound and is always providing me with production that I really enjoy.

What message or emotion do you hope listeners take away from this release?

Believe in yourself and don’t give up on your dreams. You can do anything that you set your mind to, that’s all up to your determination and dedication.

Is there a story or concept that ties the songs together?

My music is all about inner growth, becoming who you wanna be, and relationships.

How has your sound or style evolved on this release compared to your earlier work?

I definitely wanted to play around with a softer tone in this song. I love a powerful vocal, but with this song I wanted to experiment with showcasing different parts of my voice so I used both strength and airiness.

Is there a track in your music discography that feels especially meaningful to you? What makes it stand out?

Lovely feels especially meaningful to me because not only hasn’t been my most successful track, it was the first track that I worked on with my ongoing producer, Veniss, and it was the first song that I released when I moved to LA.

How do you plan to share this release with your audience? Are there any upcoming performances, videos, or special projects in the works?

I love performing and I perform every month at a showcase that I founded and host in downtown Los Angeles called Soulstice Sounds.
