This July 2nd, Kevin Riady is set to drop his brand new single 'Marco' complete with a music video on the 9th. The Melbourne-based artist is just getting started within the music scene, though he has already enjoyed some early successes. Let's take a sneak listen to this new track...
Kevin Riady released his first few singles in 2021 and followed by multiple solo/band gigs. With more than 20k streams on Spotify, Kevin has been featured in some indie and Spotify editorial playlists. His music is very heartfelt and narrative-driven, based on his diverse experience in life. This new track 'Marco' is told from the heart, and from a real place of honesty. Kevin wanted to make a more happy song, contrasting with his usual leanings towards sad songs. However, there is still a melancholic hint to this; as the singer longs for the object of their desire (the friend) to feel the same. This song is about when a friendship gets close and there's a little confusion over what this relationship now means for each person involved. There is a hint of James Bay in this, with it's catchy vocal melodies and sweet guitar. One also thinks to James Blunt and Ed Sheeran. There's also a lovely use of backing vocals to add warmth and richness. All in all, well worth your listen.
