Sabbir Nasir Shares Hard Hitting New Single ‘Drowning’

Sabbir Nasir is a bangladeshi artist who has made a name for himself for his unique take on western music flavoured with the folk roots of his heritage. Having racked up millions of views on youtube across his previous release, Sabbir is now back, this time teaming up electronic duo Apeiruss for a hard hitting single which discusses the ongoing problems with Human Trafficking across the world.

The new single ‘Drowning’ is aimed at both raising awareness and funds for The Outlaw Ocean Project, a project focused on raising awareness of the crimes that occur out at sea which includes human trafficking.

Accompanied by a powerful video directed by Shahrear Polock, 'Drowning' delicately tread the line between catchy, danceable pop and a raw emotional ballad. Blending swelling, washy synths, airy vocal samples, a pulsing dance beat with a fluid, funk infused bass line and subtle guitar lines, 'Drowning' builds a solid EDM-pop soundscape which is packed with commercial appeal. Sabbir's emotive vocals are given the space to shine over the instrumentation as he demonstrates his undeniable vocal ability.

Speaking on the single, Sabbir said:

“It's a scream from the depth of the heart, a protest, an invitation to stop all the evils on water and land, including Human Trafficking, Child Prostitution, and many other crimes happening across the borders. Over the serene, large Ocean the pirate ships are the carriers of evil. We get drowned into the water. It's a call: All engulfing evil against children and human will no longer be tolerated. So It's a cry, it's a frustration, a protest and a call for action. In the voice, the calmness of the ocean and the rebel's scream were mixed in a deliberate, authentic way.”
