Maury is an alternative genreless music artist & producer from jersey that specializes in making emotional music that creates a feeling. He's no stranger to being alone and strives to make music that makes outcasts similar to himself feel less alone in this life.
Firstly, who is Maury? Maury is a beautiful loving misfit weirdo who wears his heart on his sleeve sometimes regrettably. What’s the music scene like in Jersey, where you’re based? Honestly, I’m not too involved with it right now and that will soon change. Cherry Bomb Concerts, Mir Fontane and Coi Leray are making some noise right now and it makes me happy. Jersey produced some legends in the past such as Joe Budden, Queen Latifah, Redman and Lauryn Hill. I hope to join that list someday and do what I always wanted Jersey to achieve, It’s own unique sound and star. I feel like the Jersey has been looking for a consistent music artist to rock with for a while and I don’t see why that can’t be me if I earn that respect and honor someday. I remember seeing the love Fetty Was got back when I was in high school when “Trap Queen” was going crazy. Having a hero from where you’re from is ever so inspiring, What’s a typical day in the studio look like for you? Haha I live in my studio and I don’t think that will ever change. I usually either go in there with emotional energy ready to rant about something I’ve seen or experienced, ready to share positive energy. When I approach the studio its all about vibes and energy since that’s what I’m manifesting into my art. For someone who’s never heard your music, which song of yours is the best introduction in your opinion? Honestly its hard to say because I make so many different kinds of songs and different vibes. It’s like my sound is consistent but then its not. If you want a laid bad mellow song I’d go Summer. If you want something with a little more oomph tryout New II. But all in all I feel like I have a song for everybody so if you click on something it might stick whether if its for you or not. If you could be the main support for any living artist, who would that be for and why? I’d say Kid Cudi. He’s just an inspiration for me and at this point in my career our sounds are like PB&J in my eyes. I also came across this guitarist on instagram @Towabird and she’s eccentric and electrifying to me. Her energy, talent and energy caught my eye. I’d love to collab with her as well and I wish them both nothing but love going forth in their careers. What artists have you been listening to during all these lockdowns?
Last year I’ve discovered some artists I’ve never heard of before that I grew attached to. Blood Orange, I got deeper with Jaden and listened to a lot of house, disco, Jimi Hendrix, Speeding Bullet T
