I haven’t heard a whole lot of electronic music lately that has managed to hold my attention. I was equally relieved and excited to find out that Marq Electronica was about to release a new single. ‘Spirit Of The Shaman’ is a further step in the right direction for the burgeoning electronic artist. With this single, he proves once more that he is not a one trick pony. He can do a lot of different things with his talent.
The song opens with a special, choral sounds and a deep, hypnotic melody. The beat starts shortly after and carries the song into the realm of a funk-fest on Mars. The song is moody without being sad and upbeat without being jubilant. Marq found a perfect little groove with this track that left me with a very distinct feeling. One of a somber euphoria.
