Daria Mirea’s debut EP June is a tender, evocative journey through the raw edges of youth.
Blending folk, soul, and pop, the Cambridge-based singer-songwriter creates a sound that is simultaneously intimate and cinematic, a cinematic diary set to subtle acoustic arrangements and confessional vocals.
The EP opens with “Don’t Know Love Yet,” immediately establishing Mirea’s knack for lyrical honesty. Her voice—warm, soft, yet unflinchingly honest—guides listeners through the complexities of young adulthood. Past singles “Before It Gets Dark” and “Alright To Be Alone” anchor the EP’s narrative in both melancholy and hope, while new tracks “Greenfield Street” and “June Can’t Last Forever” bring the emotional arc to full fruition.
Produced with restraint by Andy Horjea and arranged alongside guitarist Alex Rigley, June balances elegance and intimacy. The EP’s standout, “Greenfield Street,” evokes a specific time and place so vividly it feels tangible; the closing track meditates on the inevitability of change, leaving a reflective aftertaste.
In five tracks, Mirea captures the fleeting beauty of youth and the bittersweet lessons it imparts, delivering a debut that is as heartfelt as it is timeless.
