Welcome to Curious for Music! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your latest release?

This latest instrumental release, “Just Imagine,” is a Reworking and Reimagining of tracks previously released. Four of the tracks (Pollination, Sunset, Aquarium and Hot Smoothie) were first released under the EP “Food for Thought” in 2020. Doing It was a single released in 2021. La Vie Fantastique was released this year. While preparing La Vie Fantastique, the vibes from that work encouraged me to put together a work that embodies positivity and a celebration of a life that is desired. The tracks from the EP Food for Thought came to mind as they have a certain introspective but positive feel to them. And so, reworking and reimagining those works began, taking on a character and narrative of their own.

What was the creative process like for this project?

Most of the time, I am always thinking about music. And, lots of times, I would record ideas with the thought that they can be used in future production. While the tracks on “Just Imagine” are reworked versions of released music, some of the concepts were there for years, just waiting to be woven into a musical production. Once I decided to start the project, I first began to think of an overall theme. Then, I start to put the music together. However, just because I started off in one direction does not mean I will stay in that direction. There are lots of twists and turns that happen, and then the project and tracks and direction take on a life of their own. There is always a balance that, as artists, we are always trying to strike. On one hand, we want to be in tune with the vibes of a track and go where the music takes us, but on the other hand, there is always a little voice that is telling us to stick to an overall theme so we can tell that interesting story.

How does this new release differ from your previous work?

“Just Imagine” is primarily smooth Jazz mixed with world fusion. It is an instrumental music production that incorporates electronic music that comprises hardware and software synths along with driving and pulsating drumbeats. My previous release, “Secrets from a Gemstone,” was a collection of solo piano, atmospheric instrumental music. That work sawt to encourage the listener to be inspired by the feelings you get when listening to music. “Just Imagine” seeks to expand on that by further encouraging creativity and positivity.

Were there any challenges you faced while making this music?

There is always the challenge when making music to truly be yourself and not get too overwhelmed with absolute perfection. While it is important and necessary to keep up with what is happening in the current music environment, it is always best not to get too caught up in trends and what everyone else is doing; rather, keep true to the music you feel inspired and motivated to create.

Did you collaborate with any other artists or producers on this project?

All songs were written and produced by me.

What message or emotion do you hope listeners take away from this release?

I believe that music in general can serve as a companion in one’s life. Instrumental music can serve different purposes depending on the time and place.  The tracks on “Just Imagine” are so diverse that each track can be interpreted in several ways by the listener.  But the main takeaway I hope people would have is the invitation to have a positive outlook in any situation while realistically reflecting on the past, present and future. I also believe that instrumental music can serve as a launch pad for many creative processes.

Is there a story or concept that ties the songs together?

The overarching story is that of having a chill vibe and making every moment memorable.  “Just Imagine” allows the listener to experience a positive story in their mind’s eye without having to say a word or sing a lyric.

How has your sound or style evolved on this release compared to your earlier work?

The vision for “Just Imagine” was to incorporate an updated sound palette. It also allowed me to continue to blend different styles and genres while keeping a familiar sound. Maintaining desirable music while still constantly moving the position of the grey area between genres is part of musical evolution.

Is there a track in your music discography that feels especially meaningful to you? What makes it stand out?

Each of my musical ideas or completed tracks, whether released or not, truly has a special meaning to me. It may be a situation I am going through that inspires the production of a track. Or, after completing a song, I may listen to that track in a later moment and then that track becomes very memorable because it made the moment special.

How do you plan to share this release with your audience? Are there any upcoming performances, videos, or special projects in the works?

Just Imagine is available on all major streaming platforms. I hope that listeners will enjoy and share the music at whatever moment they are in. I will be continuing to work on new recorded music in the future.  Stay chilling, stay positive and Just Imagine.
