Get To Know: Shawn Dulowe

Shawn Dulowe is a 19 year old self managed producer/rapper from New Jersey who has been making music since he was 7. Let's chat to this fast-emerging talent...

- So firstly, how would you describe your sound?

My sound is very melodic, and bouncy. If you are a fan of artists like The Kidlaroi or Lil baby, then you need to check me out!

- What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?

Whenever I go to the studio,I really just try to enjoy the experience… there isn’t really any remedy to make a hit I feel like if you try too hard, the audience can tell and it feels forced. It’s better to let everything flow naturally. Normally I don’t even write before I go in, I just tell the engineer to find a beat and I start recording.

- Do you have to be in a certain mood to write a song?

Definitely not, ever since i was a kid I have been fascinated with music. Making music has always been my getaway. It doesn’t matter whether I’m the most depressed iv ever been, or the happiest man alive. If anything my mood just affects what type of song I make .

- Who are your three biggest musical inspirations?

Metallica, Lil baby, and The Kid laroi

- Who is the best band you've ever seen play live?

It’s between Motley Crue,or Metallica. Both of them put on bad a** shows, and we’re very meaningful to me. Metallica was my favorite band growing up, and Motley Crue was on their final tour when I seen them there was just so much emotion in the music it was amazing.

- What’s the toughest part of the industry for you?

I’m from Jersey nobody supports each other out here. Gaining traction was probably the most difficult so far, but it’s only uphill from here.

- What’s the most enjoyable part of the industry?

Making music with other rappers!!! I love when another artist hops in the booth, and can match the same energy I lay out on the track. 100% the best part of what I do.

- What’s in store for you for the rest of 2021?

After receiving a crazy amount of support on my latest single, I think it’s time to perfect my craft as much as possible. I don’t have any songs that I plan on dropping mainly because I’m just starting this new sound. Poppin was my first Triplet 4pf type song, so now I’m just building my catalog until I feel the time is right.
