Get To Know: The Sensational Smilee

She now has her sights set on global domination of the dance world with her ethereal club music starting with her debut single Wavelength which peaked #4 in the Commercial Pop Charts and Number 3 in the Black Music Charts! Feel Like peaked #5 in the Commercial Pop Charts after being released in February 2021. Lift Me Up released on the 20th August 2021 is a song that has been written by Smilee so we can all try to lift each other up as a way of life.

Uplifting soulful dance but the stripped back acoustic versions also have a life of their own.

If I hear something that inspires me I use that as basis but then the concept and message of the song and lyrics are the next thing. A good melody is of course everything!

I find inspiration everywhere i go so I can apply my mood and always be creative.

- Who are your three biggest musical inspirations?

Mariah, Christina, Whitney for vocals but lots of soul music inspires me too. Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga!

- Who is the best band you've ever seen play live?

Rudimental at Glastonbury, the mix of vocals and live percussion.

- What’s the toughest part of the industry for you?

It’s been not playing live through lockdown.

- What’s the most enjoyable part of the industry?

Playing gigs!

- What’s in store for you for the rest of 2021?

More releases and some really cool collaborations! I have a big announcement soon too you can follow me to find out more.
